You deserve all the good things in life!

Self-love and acceptance can be the most powerful acts we take toward ourselves yet many of us struggle with it. If it is due to gender identity, addiction, trauma, or sexual orientation, these reasons can trick our brains into thinking that self-love and healing is made for everyone else but us. My name is Alyssa (they/them). I am a graduate student therapist at Being Human Group. Now that you have realized that you deserve more, I’m ready to take this step with you toward love and acceptance of who you are in your entirety. It’s time to see that chronic oppression and stress have happened to you, and not because of you.

Let’s collaborate together to create a world where you are worthy of space, your voice is heard, and you are the expert of your own experiences.I provide a balance of you being the expert while also challenging you to grow, face discomfort, and advocate for yourself. Our space will be an inclusive and nondiscriminatory environment where pronouns will be respected and nothing will be assumed. With me, I meet my clients where they are and want them to show up as their authentic self. I will see you as a whole person and not just your experiences. So as we embark on this journey of validation, growth, and healing, you will learn that your struggles are not due to who you are, but due to the chronic stress the world has put on you due to your identity. It is time for you to be the strong, empowered, and loved person that you deserve to be.

In the therapy room:

I work with clients aged 11 and older, as well as couples.  My specialties are people who identify as LGBTQIA2S+, those in addiction recovery, individuals exploring harm reduction, people who have experienced trauma, or those seeking gender-affirming care.

My specialty areas include:

My training:

I received my first Master’s at West Virginia University in Elementary education. During my career I worked with a range of ability levels and engaged in a wide variety of DEI training. I then decided I wanted to get my Masters in Clinical Social Work, and am currently in my last year of my masters at University of Kentucky. I am trained in EMDR and Safe and Sound Protocol, as well as a variety of therapy modalities.

I live at home with my partner and a wild and free toddler of 3 years old! We also spread our love with 2 jumping spiders, a leopard gecko, and 2 cats. In my spare time I love to craft (really a jack of all trades), watching reality TV, reading, and doing my own nails. I do believe that going outside, genuine human connection, and prioritizing self are so important to the human condition.
