Trauma Touch Therapy (TTT) offers a gentle, body-based approach to healing that reconnects individuals with their innate wisdom and presence. Rather than revisiting painful stories or reliving traumatic events, TTT invites clients into mindful awareness of their body’s sensations, creating space for curiosity, safety, and agency. Through supportive practices like touch, movement, breathwork, and creative expression, this modality helps soften the hold of trauma, allowing for resilience, restoration, and a more fully embodied life.

Why Trauma Touch?

When folks experience trauma, there’s often a disconnect that separates them from feeling sensations & being fully present in their bodies. In the face of trauma, the body’s wisdom creates a barrier that dulls and/or distracts from the acute suffering being experienced. Unfortunately, trauma not only distances people from the uncomfortable sensations in their bodies, but from all the sensations available to experience a fully present and embodied life. This is where Trauma Touch Therapy can be helpful.

What is Trauma Touch Therapy?

Trauma Touch Therapy is a body-based modality that gently invites folks back into their body. The focus isn’t on reliving the trauma. Through healing centered engagement, we will be shifting out of the narrative in our head, to the sensations and wisdom available in the body. Sessions are intentionally mindful and slow, as to promote healing rather than trauma activation. Each session is client led, is tailored to the individual and is entirely unique to them. Together, we create an environment of consent & communication with a focus on sensations in the body & being present. Encouraging curiosity and agency, we will use a multifaceted approach, that can include touch, breath-work, movement, play & art. This facilitates new neural pathways to form and creates a new experience of relating to the self and others.

A Gentle, Body-Based Approach to Trauma Therapy

This work is not trying to erase trauma, but rather to take the charge out of the narrative in the body. We hold space for whatever shows up. No judgment or need to fix or change what arises. Our goal will be to create emotional buoyancy and resilience when navigating trauma in the future.  And of course- living into a full present and embodied life!

How Can Trauma Touch Therapy Help in Therapy Sessions?

Being embodied invites the whole self into therapy. Resourcing and integrating the body's innate wisdom in learning to manage stress and regulate the nervous system is powerful stuff. My interest in Trauma Touch Therapy began when I was doing EMDR* with my therapist and realized that having access and awareness of my body made a significant difference in my sessions.

*EMDR is a therapy that taps into and guides the brain(& body)’s innate ability to heal, reprocess and integrate trauma/negative beliefs while also creating and strengthening a more empowering belief/narrative.
