I grew up constantly looking for mentors, for others to teach me the things I needed to know.  I have a distinct memory of my friend Mindy in first grade teaching me to tie my shoes, and later while in college, my friends Holly, Sara and Emily teaching me to drive.  I looked to my teachers, my friends, other people in my life to see what I needed to learn, what I might be missing.  This has continued in my career, as I build out my business.  

I have also learned to turn inward and listen more often to that still small voice inside of me.  That voice that occasionally is easier to hear, that says yes, that’s it, right there.  That is where you are meant to be.  That’s what this series is.  This is my passion project, born from my own experiences, and from my journey as a clinical supervisor working with interns, new clinicians, clinicians who have been practicing for some time but with questions and struggles.  This is for them, and, just as importantly for younger me.  Those of you who know me know I am all about finding and listening to your inner child-that still small voice in me, who says yes, that’s it, more of that.  I am so grateful to those of you who are here on this journey with me, and I am so honored to be a small part of your learning and growing journey.  

After years of working with students, interns, and new clinicians (and looking back at my own experience) the one thing I hear consistently is how unprepared you all feel leaving school.  You have some skills, some practice under your belt, but then feel as if you are being thrown to the wolves.  Now there is something to this-some sink or swim makes our bones and helps us in the long run.  But we need a life raft.  We need buoys along the way.  We cannot (cannot stress this enough) do this work alone.  I don’t care how long you have been practicing-we cannot do this alone.  We need one another, and we need resources.
