Hi, I'm Alyssia!

Alyssia Carmona LLMSW

Welcome!

My approach is focused on providing an inclusive, empowering and supportive space that is conducive to your growth and healing. No matter your reason for coming in, or your season in life, I’m here to walk alongside you with an empathetic ear and a calm, compassionate presence.

In the therapy room:

During our sessions, I may incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy, art-based therapy and mindfulness to assist in achieving your goals. Together, we will collaborate in encouraging your continued development and healing. You don’t have to go through this alone.

My specialty areas include:

I specialize in working with teens and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss and terminal illness. My experience working in the realm of grief and loss has shown me that people need care and support when life transitions happen. This can occur when losing a friend, when suffering difficult changes in school or the workplace, when there is a divorce or change in the family, and in so many other ways.

My training:

I received my Bachelor of Psychology from Eastern Michigan University and my Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. While working toward my MSW, I completed my two internships and obtained subsequent employment at SandCastles Grief Support Program for Children and Families as well as Henry Ford Hospice. Through this work, I discovered my true passion of providing support to individuals facing difficult life transitions, which brought me to where I am today as a therapist.

Outside the office:

These are a few of my favorite things: spending time with loved ones, snuggling with my cat, trying new restaurants, listening to podcasts, exploring nature, reading, traveling and practicing yoga.
