Hi, I'm Marisa!

Welcome!

As a therapist, I strive to guide people through their journey and support them in identifying and achieving their goals. I aim to create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can heal, grow and thrive.

In the therapy room:

My approach to treatment is client-centered and solution-focused. I might employ techniques such as motivational interviewing, reflection, and cognitive behavioral therapy as I partner with my clients to achieve their identified goals.

My specialty areas include:

I specialize in working with young people ages 12-25 who are experiencing anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, or situational concerns. I bring a trauma-informed lens to work and believe in a holistic, integrated approach to treatment that may result in referrals or consultation with other professionals as needed.

My training:

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Michigan- Dearborn and my Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. I completed my internship at Starfish Family Services and begin my clinical career as a home-based therapist with this organization in 1999. I am currently the Chief Program Officer at Starfish Family Services where I oversee Early Childhood Education and Behavioral Health programming. I am an advocate for children in the mental health system and passionate about normalizing the need for mental health care. Throughout my professional journey, I have always continued to provide direct services as I believe that continuing to practice the art of therapy makes me a better leader.

Outside the office:

Outside the office you will find me spending time with my family and friends, 3 border collies, and spoiled cat. I love the outdoors and enjoy walking, hiking running, cycling and just spending time in nature. I am an avid reader and love to cook and try new recipes.
