Hi, I'm Marlita!

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

You deserve to love your life and the skin you’re in. You also deserve to be treated with kindness and respect by everyone, including yourself. Sometimes, that can be a difficult thing to do, especially when you’re dealing with racing thoughts, relational issues, self-esteem problems or a depressed mood.

Sometimes, you need someone to help you see situations from a different perspective. Someone that is able to listen with an empathic ear, without judgment. Someone to teach you skills that will help you cope better throughout your day. And that is where I come in.

In the therapy room:

My counseling style consists of an integrative approach tailored to the unique needs of each client. I use a combination of techniques from cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, person-centered, and solution-focused theories, along with using play therapy with children, to create a realistic and beneficial treatment plan. I believe the client ultimately knows what is best for their life and it is my job to help them acquire the skills, techniques, and coping strategies needed to work through the challenges that can occur.

My specialty areas include:

Anxiety, self-esteem, stress management, depression, complex trauma, ADHD

My Training:

I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology and Broadcasting/Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University in May of 2015. I went on to earn my Master’s of Art degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in August of 2022 from Oakland University. My experience includes providing psychotherapy services for children, teens, adults, families, and couples in a private practice setting. I am knowledgeable in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, relational issues, stress, life changes, body dysmorphia, and delusional disorders. I also intend to become certified in dance/movement therapy and art therapy in the near future.

Outside the Office:

I absolutely LOVE dancing, hanging with family and friends, traveling and watching a good TV show to wind down. I also enjoy reading, writing poetry, and just about anything that involves being creative.

Let’s connect:

The decision to seek therapy services can be a tough one so thank you for taking this first step. And remember, you are the author of your life. You get to dictate how you want your story to be told. Let me help you write your chapters, page-by-page, as you make this journey.
